Did you know that some early diesel locomotives were designed with narrow cab windows above a prominent nose-top headlight and given the nickname “bulldog nose” for this now iconic appearance? These trains really do resemble the face of the loveable bulldog and that’s why they are the perfect train car home for our signature “Bullie Bath” service!
The “Bullie Bath” Experience
So what is the “Bullie Bath”? What’s so special about it anyway? We’re glad you asked!
The “Bullie Bath” is a unique, customized grooming experience designed by Jen especially for her beloved bulldogs! There are two levels based on your individual bullie’s needs: Bullie Maintenance and Bullie Therapy.
It Includes:
• A thorough bath using IV San Bernard products: a high quality, veterinary endorsed line of shampoos, conditioners, oils, etc. known for its superior skincare results. As so many bulldogs suffer from skin related issues, this particular line of products was chosen after extensive research to ensure your bullies get the very best!
“Bullie Maintenance”
An extremely gentle, soothing, and super hydrating shampoo and deep conditioning treatment to maintain healthy skin and coat. Formulated for sensitive skin (can’t be too careful with bullies!).
“Bullie Therapy”
Does your bullie (like so many!) have skin issues? We can help with that, too! Using only the highest quality IV San Bernard products, which are distinctively designed to address issues like bacteria, fungus (think yeast!), and hair loss, we begin with the “Detox” phase where we choose a detoxification mask based on your bullie’s specific skincare needs. We then apply it, wrapping your bullie in a warm towel, and allow it to sit for about 10-15 minutes. In the “Cleansing” phase, we apply gentle anti-bacterial and/or anti-fungal therapy shampoos to help combat these common problems. Finally, the “Hydration” phase uses a specially formulated mixture of deep conditioning treatments, helping to restore the skin’s pH and put moisture back into the skin and coat, aiding in healing and protection. A bonus Triple Oil treatment (with anti-inflammatory properties and added skin/coat strengthening and protection!) may be applied to the skin and coat if needed. As Bullie Therapy Baths are meant to promote healing of the skin and coat, more frequent visits may be recommended. **Bullie Therapy Baths will require an initial consultation to assess and discuss your bulldog’s skincare needs and history in order to give the groomer adequate time to develop a plan specially tailored for your bulldog.
• Wrinkle and tail pocket cleaning with an added protective cream (chosen specifically because it’s made especially for bullies!) to prevent bacterial build-up and keep the area clean and dry
• Blow-dry using our high velocity dryer with variable speed for added comfort
• Brush out
• Nail clipping and/or filing
• Ear cleaning
• Nose and paw balm
• Cologne (if applicable)
• Accessory
• All the jowl kisses!
Special accommodations include:
• The use of a Trachsaver versus a traditional grooming loop (ensures that pressure is never placed on your bullie’s already susceptible trachea by lightly restraining around the shoulders rather than the neck.
• State-of-the-art electric tub and grooming table to allow for easy on/ easy off access and promote safety (no lifting your bulldog!)
• No cage dryers are ever used on our brachycephalic friends! For more information, please check out our Why Bulldogs? page!
• Private, one-on-one experience promotes calm, focus, and safety, whilst limiting distractions and eliminating other common safety risks altogether.
• A Safety Protocol is in place at all times. Stress levels and behavior are carefully and continuously monitored throughout your bullie’s entire visit; HOWEVER, should the groomer deem a situation unsafe at ANY time, the groom ends immediately and the bulldog is sent home. Your bulldog’s wellbeing is far too important and it’s a risk we refuse to take.
• Peace of mind that your bullie is absolutely loved and that their unique needs are being catered to every second that they’re with us.

Why Choose TotR for your bulldog?
Here at Tails on the Rails, we understand that bulldogs are just built different. Their unique anatomy requires specialized care that is all too often overlooked by owners and groomers alike (See our Why Bulldogs? page for more information!). As a long-time bullie lover, owner, and advocate, our groomer saw the need for a bullie-centric grooming experience built on safety, comfort, trust, and client education, and thus, the “Bullie Bath” was born! At Tails on the Rails, you can be reassured that your bulldog is always in the care of someone who loves them as much as you do.
